three pillars of success:

Supporting Youth to Reach Their Full Potential

Everyday life skills

Our Everyday Life Skills program allows our members to play an active role in making their own decisions in their everyday lives, giving them choice and control. Assisting individuals to achieve greater independence is something we strongly encourage and support. Everyday life skills are taught in a classroom setting and in the community as part of this program.  As a part of our daily life skills support, we provide:

  • Social skills – Goal setting, manage time, solve problems, deal with different emotions, use social media for communication, and be aware of security risks helps develop communication and behavioral skills.

  • Personal care – Boosting confidence and keeping healthy and clean are crucial to our clients’ well-being.

  • Meal prep – Knowing how to shop, cook, use utensils, read food labels, eat less junk food, and understand the nutritional value of food are all important for independent living.

  • Domestic Duties – Taking care of domestic duties like cleaning, washing dishes, vacuuming, and emptying rubbish teaches individuals responsibility.

  • Money matters – budgeting skills and learning the value of money enable individuals to engage in conscious spending and plan for the future.

  • Use of public transport – we assist our clients by teaching them what they need to travel (money, concession cards, go cards), how to read a timetable, and where to catch public transportation so they can travel safely when there is no other option.

  • Community participation – our community outreach programs provide opportunities for our clients to engage with the broader community, which strengthens social skills.

  • Shopping – This class emphasizes budgeting, social skills, and personal care.

Health & wellness

We can improve our health and well-being through exercise. Exercise has so many health benefits when it is applied consistently. Getting exercise improves our moods, boosts our energy, and improves our sleep.

Our workouts are tailored to our members’ goals and needs at KingStones Music. Based on this foundation, a suitable program is developed. Taking a realistic approach ensures all our clients’ needs are met without overworking or straining, which can cause injury.

“Wellness Warriors” is our fortnightly fitness program where we meet at a gym, park or the “Hub” to exercise together in order to maintain our health and fitness. With our fitness program, we also encourage clients to adopt healthier eating habits.

Music Program

Music allows us to express our emotions and connect with others. It relieves physical discomfort and reduces anxiety. The fact that music helps us to manage stress can result in us breathing more effectively, lowering our blood pressure, and relaxing our muscles as a result of its relaxing properties.

Through KingStones Music, our members have the opportunity to perform live in front of an audience. As a result, this experience has a positive impact on their overall well-being. Taking responsibility for the roles they take on and self-preparing helps members build self-confidence and develop a positive self-image. Young adults are empowered by KingStones Music through live performances and community service.

Our Outreach programs:

Kingstones live

”Kingstones Music Live” empowers individuals to experience different roles in entertainment; for example, assisting in sound and lighting equipment, setting up and packing down, host or hostess duties like “meet and greet”, singing the classics, and many more. The benefits of KingStones Live encourages meeting like-minded people, social interaction with support networks and, above all, having FUN.

Wellness warriors

The Wellness Warriors class includes a variety of exercises that are low impact in nature and are designed to meet the fitness goals of each individual and the group as a whole. Depending on our week, we do different combinations of exercises during a warm-up, followed by positive affirmations, stretching, and a cool-down. Individuals benefit from this by improving coordination, mobility, teamwork, participation, and most importantly, FUN. Different locations in the community host this program.

you're the voice

This program is a collaboration with other community services to support students and young adults. It introduces options for our youth to make community connections with various community resources that suit individual needs and wants.

This is a one-hour workshop that builds capacity in each person’s vocal and performance skills; and provides a creative space for young adults to express themselves. Vocal coaching is conducted in a safe environment, and we use sound, film and recording to capture our masterpiece. Success will be measured through client participation and the outcome will be celebrated by a short video presentation that will be shared with the community.
